Hard to understand why as the rest of the unit shows no sign of wear at all except for the stylus which had been bent as if a budding DJ had been back-tracking with it. As described above, the balance wieght in the motor had come loose. It arrived to me in beautiful cosmetic condition but with an odd rattle when running. There is a saying in the automotive industry - "Made in England - finish it yourself." My SL 95B is a classic example of this mindset.
